“Macabre, haunting and wonderful”
Synopsis
Macario, a poor and hungry peasant, longs for a single good meal on the Day of the Dead. After his wife prepares a turkey for him, he encounters three apparitions— the Devil, God, and Death. Each asks him to share his turkey; he declines all requests except Death’s. In exchange, Death gives him a bottle of water that can cure any illness. Macario soon becomes wealthier than the village doctor, attracting the attention of the Inquisition.
