Anthony Sher and Harriet Walter star in a screen adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic story of tyranny and ambition. On stage, this Royal Shakespeare Company production was widely praised. Following sell-out seasons at Stratford's Swan Theatre and in London, the show toured Japan and the United States, where *The New York Times* described director Gregory Doran's interpretation as a "harrowing and disturbingly funny parable for the dawn of the 21st century." For the screen version, Doran worked with the original cast and filmed at London's Roundhouse. The production was shot by director of photography Ernie Vincze, employing techniques reminiscent of fly-on-the-wall documentaries. The result is a raw, intimate, and dynamic presentation.
