Maixabel
Synopsis
In 2000, Maixabel Lasa’s husband, Juan María Jauregi, was killed by ETA. Eleven years later, she received a request from one of the men who had participated in his murder to meet with her at Nanclares de la Oca prison in Álava, Spain, where he was serving a sentence after leaving the terrorist organization. Despite reservations and personal pain, Lasa agreed to a face‑to‑face meeting with those responsible for the death of her partner, whom she had known since she was sixteen years old. She explained that “everyone deserves a second chance” when asked why she chose to confront the man who killed her husband.
