Mangal Pandey
Synopsis
The film opens in 1857, during the period when India was under the rule of the British East India Company. Mangal Pandey is a sepoy, an Indian-origin soldier serving in the East India Company's army. He is stationed in the Anglo-Afghan Wars, where he saves the life of his British commanding officer, William Gordon. As a result, Gordon feels indebted to Pandey, and a strong bond of friendship forms between them, overcoming the barriers of rank and race.
