Synopsis
Lieutenant detective Thomas "Thom" Randall's girlfriend, Dr. Jennifer "Jen" Allen, works as the primary assistant to Dr. Aaron Michaels at his pharmaceutical company, Bellion, where they are developing a cure for the highly contagious and deadly infection known as Guinin. One of their test subjects, a convicted murderer previously arrested by Thom, escapes from custody. Both the convict and Jen are exposed to DNA altered by radiation from an experimental reactor that was originally used to modify mosquitoes carrying quinine. The escaped convict soon begins to mutate into a mosquito-like creature that drains the life from its victims. By the time Thom and his junior partner on the murder squad, Charlie Morrison, understand what is happening, Jen herself begins to undergo the same transformation.
