Mas allá del Mall
Synopsis
An Ecuadorian filmmaker, grappling with the commercial failure of his latest movie, questions whether there is an audience for Latin American cinema. In search of answers and solace, he conducts an investigation that leads him to a sprawling black market in Guayaquil, a port city where pirated films from around the world are sold for a dollar each. There, he uncovers a collection of low-budget Ecuadorian films made by amateur filmmakers, many with unfamiliar titles ranging from action-packed stories to evangelical melodramas.
