Synopsis

An owl leads a class of birds in a lesson on melody, emphasizing that music is everywhere in nature. The film highlights that only birds and humans possess the ability to sing, with humans "singing" even when they speak. The narrative presents a brief overview of life's stages through various songs, including the alphabet song for elementary school, "Here Comes the Bride," and "The Old Gray Mare." The film also explores the common themes that inspire songs, such as love, sailing, trains, the American West, and motherhood, while noting that "we never sing about brains." The film concludes with an illustration of how a simple melody can evolve into a full symphony, revisiting and expanding upon the basic tune introduced at the beginning of the lesson.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 12

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
