Miles Ahead
“If you gonna tell a story, come with some attitude.”
Synopsis
Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 – September 27, 1991) was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. Widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Davis played a pivotal role in the evolution of jazz, contributing to the development of bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz, and jazz fusion. Born in Alton, Illinois, he began his musical career in the 1940s, studying at the Juilliard School in New York City before quickly becoming a central figure in the bebop movement. He worked with prominent musicians such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Thelonious Monk. In the 1950s, Davis led a series of groundbreaking recordings, including *Birth of the Cool* and *Kind of Blue*, the latter of which remains one of the best-selling and most celebrated jazz albums of all time. Throughout his career, Davis continually reinvented his sound, embracing new technologies and musical styles. His later work, such as *Bitches Brew*, helped pioneer the jazz fusion genre. Davis also collaborated with rock and funk musicians, further expanding the boundaries of jazz. He received numerous awards and honors, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990. Davis's influence extends beyond jazz, impacting rock, pop, and electronic music. He died in 1991 in Santa Monica, California, leaving behind a legacy as a visionary artist and innovator.

The scale of the collaboration
Principal cast & crew: 22
These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.
Why a floor?
This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
