Mistaken

Nellie, born Bouchard, is divorced by the wealthy Jack Givens after a miscarriage and unsuccessful in vitro attempts to overcome her infertility. Left destitute, she discovers her bank account has been drained by someone using the identity of her former self, Eleanor Kendall. With the help of her bank officer lover, Dave, she tracks the impostor to Montréal and prevents the stolen funds from being used to buy a home in Corsica. She begins an affair with British doctor Christopher Dolan, who is in town for a conference, and later encounters Eleanor, a local French tutor and single mother. Rather than reporting the matter to the police, Nellie befriends and grows close to the woman. Eventually, the truth resurfaces, but in a way that is more complex and dangerous than anyone had anticipated.
