Synopsis
In 1506, in ancient Korea, the tyrannical King Yeonsan-gun of the Joseon dynasty is overthrown by his half-brother, Jung-jong. Jung-jong's reign begins with a period of widespread executions. Over the following years, various conspiracies and plots against him emerge, plunging the kingdom into turmoil. By 1528, unsettling rumors reach the royal palace about a mysterious creature, referred to as Monstrum by the common people.
