Mrs. Rubin

Sophie, a 27-year-old intern at the psychiatry ward who has recently graduated from medical school, confronts the harsh realities of her new role and becomes involved in the story of Mrs. Erme, a 45-year-old resident of the ward. The professor, Sophie's mentor and the facility's medical administrator, notices Sophie's fascination with Mrs. Erme's appearance and facilitates a meeting between the two women. As their doctor-patient relationship progresses, Sophie discovers that Mrs. Erme also has an intense preoccupation with her face. She further uncovers that Mrs. Erme's illness is closely tied to this fixation. Through investigation and the torment of her own dreams, Sophie learns that Mrs. Erme had a son who died of chicken pox at the age of ten, while his mother avoided getting infected out of fear of damaging her face.
