München 72 - Das Attentat
Synopsis
The 1972 Munich Olympics were intended to showcase a new, modern Germany—open, cosmopolitan, and free. However, on the early morning of September 5, this vision was shattered when Palestinian terrorists infiltrated the Olympic Village and took the Israeli team hostage. Shortly after the attack, security forces discovered a dead Israeli athlete, and the remaining members of the team were held at gunpoint by armed militants. When the terrorists' leader requested a negotiator, Anna Gerbers, a young police officer who had initially arrived in Munich as a games steward, volunteered to take on the role.
