My Sweet Prince
Synopsis
Set in 2003 on the Isle of Wight, this short film blends fragments of the director's own teenage video diaries with the fictional story of 15-year-old Tommy. The film captures the era through references to alcopops, VHS tapes, cigarettes, boys, MSN Messenger, and Placebo. Tommy, infatuated with his best friend's boyfriend and unable to reveal his true self to anyone, feels isolated on the small chalk island he calls home. Desperate for connection, he turns to the family computer, logs on to MSN, and clicks connect in the emerging internet age.
