Synopsis
Five prisoners of war escape a Confederate prison camp and find themselves stranded on an uncharted Pacific island in *Director Russell Mulcahy's* screen adaptation of *Jules Verne's* literary classic. Believing they are heading toward freedom by boarding a balloon, they instead land on an island where time seems frozen and danger lurks at every turn. There, they encounter bloodthirsty beasts, murderous pirates, and a mad genius named Captain Nemo (played by Patrick Stewart). As treachery abounds, the five survivors must fight for their lives to escape the island and return to the modern world.
