National Theatre Live: Antigone
Synopsis
In the unstable aftermath of a civil war, Creon, the new King of Thebes, asserts his authority by forbidding anyone from honoring the death of the traitor Polyneices. But Antigone, Polyneices' sister, defies the decree and attempts to give her brother a proper burial, believing it to be a sacred duty. Creon discovers her act of defiance and sentences her to death, leading to a tragic conflict that tests the limits of loyalty, law, and divine will.
