Synopsis
Laxmi Agarwal, a human rights activist and survivor of acid violence, is central to *The Newborns*, a film that explores the meaning of memory and loss through her perspective. The film examines what acid violence signifies to survivors and to those around them, and how these two world-views interact. It considers the meanings of concepts such as 'fear,' 'power,' 'innocence,' and 'beauty.' Through the survivors' experiences, the film offers a lens to look forward and gaze back, depicting their daily lives in a nameless dystopian city.
