Nobody's Child

A fact-based drama depicting the life of Marie Balter, who spent much of her youth in mental institutions. At age 16, she made her first suicide attempt, and over the next 20 years, she remained in and out of these facilities. Eventually, a compassionate doctor began treating her for severe depression and panic disorder. Weaned off the powerful medications she had relied on her entire life, Marie emerged permanently at age 36 and began a rehabilitation program at the home of a volunteer married couple. There, she met another patient with whom she formed a romantic relationship. She also started a college degree, which led to long-term professional success in the mental health field.
