Octopus

Released: September 21, 2000Runtime: 100 min

In 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, a Russian submarine enters American waters carrying a nuclear payload intended for Fidel Castro. The sub is attacked and destroyed by U.S. forces. Thirty-eight years later, the U.S. submarine *Roosevelt* operates in the same region when it is suddenly attacked by an unknown object, which disables the vessel and drags it to the ocean floor. There, the crew discovers a bizarre and unsettling sight: numerous shipwrecks, including the remains of the sub destroyed decades earlier. The wreckage suggests that whatever was aboard has nurtured the growth of a monstrous, mutant octopus of incredible size and strength. The only hope for escape lies in an emergency submersible and a nearby passing cruise ship. Whether above or below the water, the crew faces an inescapable threat from the creature, now fueled by a nuclear diet.
