Synopsis
In pre-war Italy, a young couple gives birth to a baby boy, but the father grows jealous of his son. The narrative shifts to antiquity, where the infant is taken into the desert to be killed. He is rescued, given the name Oedipus, and raised by the King and Queen of Corinth as their own child. One day, an oracle tells Oedipus that he is fated to kill his father and marry his mother. Disturbed by the prophecy, he flees Corinth and his presumed parents, only to become involved in a confrontation on the road where he kills an older man.
