Synopsis

Karin Wegemann has been reassigned from active duty at the LKA to a teaching position at the police academy, where she has been instructing future colleagues for several months. However, a static life does not suit a woman who thrives best in challenging conditions. The career shift offers her neither external stability nor inner peace, a situation her superiors also recognize. One evening, Wegemann meets investigative journalist Maik Fellner, who has been focusing on child trafficking in Germany for years. Despite his efforts, Fellner's articles have had no real impact, and his disturbing research is often dismissed as slander. Fellner needs Wegemann, but only as an active police officer. He pressures her and informs her about a 14-year-old witness who has led him to a child trafficking network in Potsdam. Wegemann's investigation puts her in serious danger, as the perpetrators are also aware of the existence of the witness.
