Overnight Republic
Synopsis
Peker Mengen is elected mayor of a remote town on the promise of securing a visit from the prime minister and elevating the town to province status. When the townspeople hold him to his word, Mengen resorts to unconventional tactics to persuade the prime minister to visit. After consulting with his advisors, he organizes an elaborate welcome ceremony, but the event spirals beyond his control, leading the town of 5,000 residents to unexpectedly become a sovereign country at war with America. As Mengen, his unwillingly married wife Mualla, and his advisors work to fend off American forces and navigate the challenges of building a new nation, they receive unexpected assistance from an alien in pursuit of their objectives.
