Five years ago, Martin's family disappeared without a trace from a cruise ship, leaving him to wrestle with the possibility that his wife may have committed murder-suicide, taking their son with her. He is the only one who refuses to accept this theory. A new lead now brings him back to the same luxury cruise liner, where another mother and child have gone missing. This time, however, the girl reappears, clutching a teddy bear that once belonged to Martin's son. As Martin investigates, he discovers that procedures aboard the ship are different. To preserve the passengers' enjoyment of the cruise's lavish amenities, the ship's wealthy owner wants the missing child hidden and is keeping her in the quarantine bay deep below deck. There, Martin attempts to connect with the traumatized girl. But beneath the ship's surface, something more sinister lurks, and all evidence suggests the presence of a serial killer waiting for the next opportunity to strike.
