A young boy named Apu strives to discover wonder and hope amid the crushing poverty of his rural Bengal village, while his family battles relentless hardship and an uncertain future.
Synopsis
Impoverished priest Harihar Ray, seeking a better life for himself and his family, leaves his rural Bengal village in search of work. Left behind, his wife, Sarbojaya, is responsible for caring for their rebellious daughter, Durga, their young son, Apu, and Harihar's elderly aunt, Indir. Despite the hardships they face, the children find joy in the small pleasures of their difficult life, while their parents endure the daily indignities of their circumstances.
