Pencil Mania

This *Tom and Jerry* cartoon (featuring the human versions, not the cat and mouse) gives the animators a chance to play with the medium. There is no specific plot. One of the boys uses a pencil to create a variety of animated illusions that are only possible in a cartoon. For example, a short vertical line is drawn, and when held by both ends, it suddenly becomes a saxophone. When played, the notes pop out of the bell of the instrument and quickly grow legs, transforming into ducks. After the song, the saxophone itself follows suit and becomes a goose. The entire short is made up of these disjointed, though often creative and humorously unlikely events.
