Pigtails
Synopsis
A small house stands alone by the seaside. A young girl has lived there alone since a fateful day when the earth shook and the sea roared. Mail no longer arrives, yet each morning, she continues her routine, hanging out the laundry. Unaware of the turmoil around her, the clothes pegs quarrel, a pillow argues with an umbrella about the outside world, and a new toothbrush tries in vain to charm the grumpy older objects. The story questions whether objects exist only to be used until they are consumed or broken, and whether they fear being discarded once their life cycle ends. It is a delicate tale of hope in a cruel and gentle world after an unnamed disaster.
