Synopsis

Jim, a young musician from Hanover, is experiencing a period of success: his girlfriend Jule is pregnant, the couple has found a new apartment, and his band is on the verge of signing a record deal with a company in England. However, his life takes a dramatic turn after a routine visit to the authorities reveals that his German documents are invalid because he is actually Turkish. Believing it to be a mistake, Jim begins an increasingly absurd and frustrating journey through various bureaucratic offices. When these efforts fail, he decides to obtain Turkish citizenship through the Turkish consulate in order to regain his German status. To do so, he must locate his Turkish father, Mustafa, who abandoned his mother, Ingrid, when Jim was still a baby.
