Pollyanna

Pollyanna Whittier is sent to live with her wealthy but bitter aunt following the tragic death of her father. She introduces a game her father taught her—the "Glad Game," which challenges people to find a silver lining in even the darkest situations. Her cheerful nature, good humor, and determination to focus on the positive begin to have a profound effect on the people of Beldingsville. With the help of her orphaned friend, Jimmy Bean, Pollyanna gradually wins over the town's most difficult residents, including the cynical recluse Mrs. Snow, the melancholic millionaire Mr. Pendleton, and the mysterious Dr. Chilton. She also plays a key role in bringing together her aunt’s maid, Nancy, and the handyman, Tim. However, her aunt remains resistant to Pollyanna's optimism and joy. Pollyanna's efforts to combat pessimism are complicated by a personal tragedy that threatens to strip her of her ability to remain "glad."
