DramaHorror

Andrzej Żuławski's 1981 film Possession is a genre-defying psychological drama that explores the complexities of marriage and horror. Set in Cold War-era Berlin, the film follows intelligence agent Mark (Sam Neill) as he returns home to his estranged wife, Anna (Isabelle Adjani), only to discover a disturbing secret. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was initially met with buzz, but its graphic content and controversial themes led to a short-lived public interest. The original version was not released in the United States until two and a half years later, but it was heavily edited to just 80 minutes, significantly altering the film's impact.
