Synopsis
A boy sits at a table, writing a letter to Boris Prutkov. The cartoon traces the letter's journey from Rostov to Leningrad, where Prutkov has just left for Berlin; when the letter arrives in Berlin, Prutkov has already departed for London; as it reaches London, Prutkov is already on a steamboat to Brazil; and when the letter is finally delivered by the postman Don Basilio, Prutkov is on his way back to Leningrad. In the end, the letter—having followed Prutkov around the world—finally reaches him in the Soviet capital. The film celebrates the global postal service and the reliability of postmen, while also depicting a journey around the world that ultimately returns to Leningrad.
