Prefabricated Houses
Synopsis
This student film by Jiří Menzel was created during his second year at the FAMU film school. It juxtaposes images of old Prague and its tenement buildings—representing an outdated era—with scenes of construction sites for new prefabricated apartment buildings. While the film includes certain unavoidable propagandistic elements introduced by the director, it is recognized as the starting point of his exploration of a "dramaturgy of colors."
