Synopsis
*PRIMO*, adapted by Antony Sher from Primo Levi's account of his year in Auschwitz, *If This Is a Man*, premiered in September 2004 at the National Theatre. The production was immediately regarded as a significant theatrical event, noted for its powerful dramatic portrayal of one of history's darkest episodes. Antony Sher's performance was described as restrained and precise, mirroring the clarity of Primo Levi's prose. The production was directed by Richard Wilson and featured set design by Hildegard Bechtler, characterized by its symbolic and grand aesthetic.
