Edward L. Bernays (1891–1995) was an American publicist and a pioneer in the fields of propaganda and public relations. He is known for his work on the concept of controlling public opinion and shaping mass behavior. His career involved the development of strategies for influencing public perception, including the engineering of consent. His methods and ideas have been described as a revealing look into the power of advertising, persuasion, and the manipulation of public thought.
