Punk Can Take It
Synopsis
Julien Temple's wartime documentary parody *Punk Can Take It* (1979) serves as a theatrically released promotional piece for the UK Subs, featuring narration by BBC voice-over veteran John Snagge. The film presents a vivid portrayal of England undergoing a punk rock "identity crisis." At the time, punk morale was at its highest. Punks were united not by fear, but by a strong sense of revenge, a belief in immortality, and the determination never to submit or yield. This demonstrated that punk was not fading away and that the punks themselves were becoming younger and more aggressive with each passing day. They showed little interest in the fleeting excitement of nostalgia or its superficial rules.
