Returning the Favor

Kitahara Kazunori was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma in the fall of his second year in high school and spent the next year and 10 months battling the disease. Despite his illness, he studied diligently for university entrance exams and was accepted to his first-choice school, Tokyo University, though he was only able to visit the campus for a single day before passing away. In January 2005, Kazunori's mother compiled his writings and published them as a book, which was later adapted into this drama. While undergoing treatment, Kazunori received support from friends, teachers, and family, maintaining close and meaningful relationships with those around him. The drama portrays the year and 10 months during which Kazunori and his loved ones persevered together.
