Synopsis

In *The Patriot*, New York trapper Tom Dobb is drawn into the American Revolution when his son Ned is conscripted into the Army by the tyrannical Sergeant Major Peasy. Determined to locate his son, Tom gradually comes to believe that he must fight for the independence of the Colonies, joining forces with the noble rebel Daisy McConnahay. As Tom's perspective shifts, the film portrays the broader events of the war with sweeping historical scope.
