Rites
Synopsis
Michal, a twelve-year-old boy born with a cleft lip, struggles with feelings of inadequacy due to his facial deformity. His only friend, Ondra, encourages him to join a street gang in an effort to escape his status as an outsider. The two friends have one afternoon to demonstrate their worthiness for gang membership. Though Michal is eager to prove himself, the thrilling challenge quickly transforms into a rite of passage into adulthood.
