In autumn 1995, in the Sauerland region, a hiker discovers the body of high school graduate Sonja Risse in the forest on the Wilzenberg. The killer leaves behind a music box playing the lullaby "Hush Little Baby," but this clue does not lead to a clear resolution of the case. Twenty-five years later, investigative journalist Stefanie Schneider, known by the nickname "Mütze," makes a startling discovery in Cologne: an undressed corpse in a disused multi-storey car park, with a music box playing beside it. Her colleague Jan Römer, who had previously covered the Sonja case as a young journalist in 1995, recognizes the melody and suspects a connection. He travels to Wilzenberg with Stefanie to interview Sonja's mother, Maria, her former teacher Waldheim, and her best friends. As the journalists gather more information, they uncover contradictions and gaps that the original investigators had apparently overlooked.
