Saint-Germain ou La négociation
Synopsis
This is the TV adaptation of a novel by Francis Walder. The story is set in 1570, during the religious wars between Catholics and Protestants in France. Both sides are determined to find a truth that will enable peaceful negotiations toward a settlement, which will eventually become the Peace of Saint-Germain-en-Laye in the same year. The negotiations are led by Henri de Malassise (played by Jean Rochefort) and the Earl of Biron for the Catholic side, and by Mr. d'Ublé and M. de Mélynes for the Protestant side.
