Synopsis

On 15 August 1944, the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team (PRCT) jumped into southern France with the objective of supporting and protecting Allied forces advancing toward Berlin. After landing in enemy‑occupied territory, they came under immediate attack. While attempting to complete their mission and rendezvous with their unit, three isolated paratroopers encountered a group of French resistance fighters who were in desperate need of assistance. The paratroopers chose to aid the resistance in liberating captive partisans, an action that placed their lives at risk.

The scale of the collaboration

A crew of 56+ credited

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
