Synopsis
Samadhi is a work that combines elements of mysticism and mystery, integrating movement, sound, and color. Belson has noted that his study and practice of Yoga and Tibetan Buddhism influenced the creation of the film. Inspired by the principles of yogic meditation, the film explores the movement of consciousness toward samadhi—the union of subject and object—and the fusion of atma (breath and mind), a state that reveals the divine force of kundalini, represented as a bright white light at the conclusion of the film. The Tibetan Book of the Dead serves as the inspiration for Belson’s use of color in Samadhi, reflecting the descriptions of the elements of Earth, Fire, Air, and Water in the text. —Sophie Pinchetti, The Third Eye
