Sangokushi
Synopsis
Set against the backdrop of the Yellow Turban rebellion, which marked the beginning of the end for the Han dynasty, the story opens with Liu Bei, the eventual protagonist, and Cao Cao, the eventual antagonist, as relatively minor figures. Liu Bei is determined to find a path to restore order in a world descending into chaos, and in his search, he forms a close alliance with two formidable warriors, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu. The three take the Oath of the Peach Garden, vowing to live and die together in their pursuit of justice. At the same time, Cao Cao is contemplating his own fate, wrestling with the question of whether he is destined to be a hero in a world of disorder or a villain in a time of peace.
