Synopsis
It is 1595. After brutal wars, an uneasy peace has been established between Protestant Sweden and Orthodox Russia. The story centers on two Finnish brothers, both of whom have suffered spiritual defeats following their homeland's conquest. One is a hardened, near-psychopathic war hero, while the other is a gentle scientist in an era that offers little place for men of his kind. The brothers find themselves in the swampy interior, where they are tasked with demarcating the new border alongside a unit of sadistic Russians.
