Schwarzbrot in Thailand
Synopsis
Ottmar retires after 40 years of running his Hamburg bakery, passing it to his daughter Janina, and moves with his wife to a senior residence in Pattaya, Thailand, owned by their compatriot Beinle. The residence offers private nursing as needed. While his wife looks forward to exploring a new culture, Ottmar longs for the comfort of his former business life and is unsettled by the presence of the demented retired judge Lobinger. Max, a tour package host, convinces Ottmar to finance a "real German bakery," doing so secretly from his wife, whom he suspects of an affair. However, once the contract is signed, Max vanishes with Ottmar's savings. As their marriage begins to unravel, Ottmar and his wife Tanja must seek assistance and adjust to their new reality.
