Synopsis

*See You at the Pictures* is a feature-length documentary that explores the experience of movie-going in Ireland across several decades. Drawing on a wealth of previously undocumented or privately recorded stories and adventures—stored in people's memories or written in fading notebooks and diaries across the country—the film examines specific periods of Irish history through the lens of cinema. It features the accounts of both ordinary and extraordinary individuals who lived through these times, offering insight, historical context, humorous anecdotes, local color, and stories that are either comic or tragic. Through these testimonies, the film highlights cinema-going as a shared national experience, as significant to Ireland's cultural heritage as any other aspect of its traditions.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 7

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
