Synopsis
Shane MacGowan first gained recognition as the lead singer and primary songwriter of The Pogues, responsible for international hits such as "Fairytale Of New York" and "The Irish Rover." After leaving the band in 1991, he formed a new group called the Popes, with whom he released their debut album, "The Snake," in 1995. He continues to be an influential figure in Irish music. A performance recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 15, 1995, is part of his recorded output.
