Shootdown
Synopsis
Nan Moore is a U.S. government employee whose son is killed when Korean Air Flight 007 is shot down by the Soviet Union on September 1, 1983. The official explanation states that the flight strayed unintentionally into Soviet airspace, was mistaken for a spy plane, and was shot down after failing to identify itself. Ms. Moore, however, harbors doubts about this account. As she attempts to uncover the truth behind her son's death, she encounters repeated resistance and obstruction. Faced with a conspiracy of silence and growing hostility from authorities, Moore continues her investigation, only to find that each answer she uncovers leads to further questions.
