Siege
Synopsis
*Siege* is a 1940 documentary short that depicts the Siege of Warsaw by the Wehrmacht at the beginning of World War II. It was filmed by Julien Bryan, a photographer and cameraman from Pennsylvania who later founded the International Film Foundation. *Siege* was nominated for an Academy Award for Best One-reel Short at the 13th Academy Awards in 1941. In 2006, the film was added to the National Film Registry by the Librarian of Congress, described as "a unique, horrifying record of the dreadful brutality of war."
