Synopsis
The film is based on a real story that took place in 1943 at the Sobibor concentration camp in German-occupied Poland. The main character is Alexander Pechersky, a Soviet-Jewish soldier who was serving as a lieutenant in the Red Army at the time. In October 1943, he was captured by the Nazis and deported to Sobibor, a camp where Jews were systematically killed in gas chambers. Within three weeks, Pechersky organized an international uprising among prisoners from Poland and Western Europe. This revolt became the only successful one during the war and resulted in the largest escape of prisoners from a Nazi concentration camp.
