Synopsis
Richard Haig is a successful and well-respected English professor at Trinity College in Cambridge by day. By night, he indulges in romantic fantasies with a series of attractive undergraduate students. However, Richard has grown weary of this lifestyle and is seeking something more meaningful and enduring. When Kate, his 25-year-old American girlfriend—who is described as tanned and athletic—tells him she is pregnant, Richard is delighted. He envisions a future with a family of his own and hopes to be a father his children could respect, rather than a man driven by sexual pursuits. The complication is that Richard is not in love with Kate; he is in love with her sister, Olivia, a woman he has loved since the moment he first saw her.
