Sonatine
An aging Tokyo yakuza is dispatched to Okinawa to broker peace between rival clans, only to discover the war is a sham and his crew is ambushed, forcing him to survive on a deserted beach while confronting the meaningless cycle of violence.

Synopsis
Murakawa, an aging Tokyo yakuza who is growing weary of the gangster life, is sent by his boss to Okinawa along with several of his henchmen to help end a gang war, ostensibly serving as mediators between two rival clans. He soon discovers that the conflict between the clans is trivial, and as he questions the reason for his assignment, his group is ambushed. The survivors escape and decide to take refuge at the beach while they await further orders.
